Phoenix from which a masterpiece was born? | Dead Games #6 | Rainbow six: Patriots

Hello again, you know, I really love the Rainbow Six series of games. As a child I played a lot of the game SWAT 4 and I really liked it, a few years later I learned about a series of games called Rainbow Six. The first game in the series that I played was Vegas 2. This game was great. It had fewer strategic elements compared to the first parts of the series. The game reminded me a lot of SWAT, only easier and with more dynamic and interesting gameplay.

And in 2015, our beloved Rainbow Six Siege was released and the series gained a large number of new fans. It was cool! We got a pretty good Rainbow Six: Siege, but it turned out that it was born from the corpse of another game, the closure of which fans remember with disappointment. Ubisoft called RS: Partiots one of its most ambitious projects, where the focus is on a dynamic and emotional storyline. Which, however, was immediately shown in the very first trailer, where they created a real drama.

In addition to the story, https://kittycatcasino.co.uk/ they wanted to give us the opportunity to kill civilians (sometimes making a choice between colleagues and ordinary people, or killing one, but saving many), a tactical planning phase and difficulty. According to Ubisoft, a lot of work has been done on the artificial intelligence of both rivals and allies. All this was served with co-op and the improved Anvil engine, which was inherited from the game by Assasins Creed and produced an excellent picture!

The game itself was announced in 2011, on the threshold of a new generation, which ultimately ruined the game. The developers suddenly wanted to add more graphics and the ability to destroy floors, but the resources of the current systems could not allow this. And Ubisoft top managers in their tapered trousers saw growth in sales of games with an online component. Thus began a long process of adaptation to the new generation, which ended with the killing of the Patriots and the birth of Siege – a fully multiplayer game.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the decision to "kill" Patriots was made due to the developers’ desire to focus on multiplayer rather than the single-player campaign. But in an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, technical artist Oliver Couture gave a different explanation.
“I’ll be completely honest with you, I worked on Patriots for three and a half years and I can say that it was a last generation project,” Couture said. — It was a game for Xbox 360 and PS3, the work was not yet completed, and the new generation consoles were already looming on the horizon. We wanted to somehow adapt the game for new consoles. We saw that the technology of total destruction of levels really changes the game".

But, alas, this was impossible to implement on Xbox 360 and PS3, so instead of making two different versions, the authors decided to start from scratch. “For us, the best solution was to completely restart development, taking into account what would be best for the players,” the artist added. According to Oliver, Rainbow Six Siege has been in development for the last year and a half.
That is, the Patriots were turned into a completely different game in a year and a half. And it’s not surprising that at the start of Siege there were so many problems.

Personally, I love Siege, but I’m disappointed with the death of Patriots, because for me single-player games with a good and interesting storyline are higher than multiplayer.
The trailer alone made me want to play it, but unfortunately we won’t see a good single player game in this series anymore, or we won’t see it very soon, because Siege will be supported for another 10 years.

In this situation, everyone draws their own conclusions, what would you prefer?? An interesting, story-driven game with interesting new mechanics or a good multiplayer game with constant updates, support and a large, fun community? Write in the comments.
